oil lamps

  • The simple answer to this is yes!

Like with any candles, precautions should be taken such as dont place them near soft furnishings and things like curtains, and dont leave them unattended.

  • While it is possible to use vegetable oil in an oil candle, it is not to be recommended.  Vegetable oil is a much more viscous, heavier oil, with a higher flashpoint than proper lamp oil.

  • This should read, does lamp oil smell, I reckon!

If you smell an oil candle flame while it is burning, assuming it is burning properly, and combustion is complete, there is no smell, depending on the quality of the lamp oil.

  • Our lamps are very stable and rarely knocked over. As you have seen from the above pictures, they will stand quite a fall and are therefore very unlikely to break the oil reservoir if knocked over.

Below we have knocked over a candle to demonstrate that the flame normally goes out and very little fuel escapes from the candle (even less with our anti-spill models).

If the candle falme does not go out, it will burn quietly and will not flare or flash because the fuel has a very high flashpoint, which makes it very safe.

    Go on. Push it!

    It's gone out.

  • Our lamps are very stable and rarely knocked over. If it does happen, the liquid wax container will not break even if the shade does. Very little fuel escapes, if any, and this will not burn without the wick anyway.
